Panthers make quick work of Eagles in three-set sweep.

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. -- Following a tough, five-set loss, Tuesday, to top-ranked Eagan, Lakeville North wasted no time in getting back to its winning ways, handing Apple Valley a 25-14, 25-13, 25-12 defeat in a match than lasted less than an hour.

Junior Justine Bastyr made her first varsity start in the absence of Maddy Hornyak from the lineup and wasted no time in making an impact.

Bastyr's first kill of the night gave the Panthers an 11-7 and she had six kills in the opening set, her last giving her team a 23-11 lead.

The victory was a total team effort as North received 33 serves without an error, tallied 51 kills in three sets, recorded 58 digs, had a serve percentage of .932 and a sideout percentage of .750.

It was a team effort in replacing the hitting and defense Hornyak has provided.

Along with Bastyr, four players recorded career highs in kills, with Savannah Polzin leading the way with 15 kills while hitting .429. Ella Thompson added 13 kills and Abbey Milner had 11 as North finished with 50 kills and a .300 hitting percentage.

Four players recorded double-digits in digs with libero Halle Wolfe recording a match-high 15 digs to go with 23 service receptions. Defensive specialists Ella Wheatcraft and Hannah Nietfeld had 12 and 11 digs, respectively.

Justine Bastyr had seven kills and a block in her first varsity start.

Setter Abby Jandro recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 digs and 35 assists, to go with a pair of kills and a block assist.

Next up for North is its regular-season home finale, Tuesday, when the Panthers face Burnsville in a 7 p.m. match on Senior Night.
