Panthers put away scrappy Lakers to move to 3-0 in the South Suburban Conference.

PRIOR LAKE, Minn. -- Savannah Polzin came off the bench to record a match-high 11 kills and fourth-ranked Lakeville North, which trailed through much of the first two sets, came up with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 win over Prior Lake.

The Lakers grabbed a 3-2 lead and held that lead until an ace by Maddy Hornyak, during a six-point run, tied the score at 14-14. Another ace by Hornyak made it 15-14 and the Panthers did not trail after that point.

In the second set, the hosts had a four-point lead at 15-11 before North sided out on eight of Prior Lake's final nine serves to slowly pull away, led by Polzin, who had five kills in six attempts in the set.

After a 1-1 tie in the third set, Hornyak served three consecutive points for a 5-1 lead and the Panthers never looked back, cruising to the third set win.

North recorded 10 services aces, with Hannah Nietfeld and Halle Wolfe each adding two to the four recorded by Hornyak. Abby Jandro and Ella Thompson each had a pair of block assists.

Next up for the Panthers is this weekend's Eagle Invitational. North will face Chaska in its first game, at 6:15 p.m., Friday, followed by a second-round match, scheduled for 8:45 p.m.

Maddy Hornyak had 10 kills and led both teams in aces (4) and digs (9).
