LNHS Bowling Team

The LNHS Bowling Club

This club is a co-ed lettered sport where students compete against other schools in the area in both varsity and JV matches. We strive for a fun, relaxed atmosphere where students can learn the sport and develop his or her bowling skills.

High School Bowling in Minnesota Minnesota High School Bowling

Governed by the Bowling Proprietors Association of Minnesota (BPAM) whereas the governing body for most other high school sports is the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The BPAM rules, however, are modeled after those of the MSHSL. Learn more about the league at http://gobowlingminnesota.com/ .

Club Philosophy

Bowling is a life-long sport/activity that can be enjoyed for both its competitive and recreational aspects. The primary goal of this club is to:

1) Give students the opportunity to learn more about the sport

2) Provide the encouragement to help students develop a love for the game

3) Provide coaching to allow each bowler to improve his/her bowling skills

4) Allow students to meet new friends while doing something they enjoy

Who Can Participate

All Lakeville North students (male and female) grades 8-12 are welcome for match competition. No experience is necessary as bowling skills will be taught by trained, volunteer coaches.

Cost to Participate

$105 for the entire season: • The school charges a $30 activity fee. This fee must be paid via the School’s Activity site. • A club fee of $75 which covers: o cost of the jersey, which you get to keep o administrative costs ** NOTE: With the loss of our past home center, Lakeville Family Bowl, we may also be losing a key sponsor in the Knights of Columbus. If we cannot retain KoC, or replace them as a sponsor, there may be an additional fee (approx. $30-35/bowler).

Bowling practice (including use of shoes and bowling balls) is free, donated by Dustin Kimmes, owner of Farmington Lanes. Without the generosity of Dustin, this program would most likely not exist at Lakeville North. Please make an effort to patronize Farmington Lanes whenever possible in an effort to show support and gratitude for Dustin's generous giving to our bowling club. Bowling matches are also free, donated by the bowling center hosting each event.

Practices Mondays & Wednesdays 3:30-5:00 pm.

Starting: Mon. 8/22/22. No Practice Labor Day (9/5/22) or MEA Break (10/19/22).

Bowlers are expected to be at practice if you want to participate in matches. However, I will work with any member who may have some scheduling conflicts. Bowling is about fun, not rigid schedules; nevertheless, it is a team sport requiring players to train/practice together for the success of all.

Matches Minnesota High School Bowling uses the Baker system. Each team member rolls two frames to complete a full game. Matches are 5-games. It is a very exciting format for both players and spectators. The NCAA also uses this format for inter-collegiate matches as it greatly elevates the team aspect of the sport.

Communication

Mass communication to parents and to students will be done via email. I would generally prefer communications from parents and students in email form also, as it is easier to track and manage; however, for immediate needs, please feel free to call or text me (Tom Paider) at 651-271-1791 or tompaider@gmail.com.
