After drawing 0-0 vs Northfield, the Lakeville North Panthers' mentality was to grab a win, especially against an Eastview team that had not secured a victory since September 18th. Before the game, Coach Peter Tyma had a strategy coming into this conference battle.

"We had a big hour and a half film session yesterday, and we pointed out all the little things we could do so well", Tyma Said. "We haven't taken the opportunities that were given to us, but tonight, we had the stronger energy, and we still couldn't find the back of the net until we got the penalty kick".

Throughout the majority of the first half, the Panthers completely dominated Eastview on all sides of the ball. North Goalkeeper Matt Collins was tested only once in the first half, comfortably saving the Lightning's first shot on goal. The Panthers also had a variety of scoring opportunities, but they could not score. However, North generated better chances, and ultimately got their deserved result in the second half.

Early into the second half, Eastview was called for a coherent handball inside the box, and Senior Kevin Wypyszynski converted the penalty kick, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Even though the Lightning trailed the Panthers 1-0, Eastview wasn't ready to give up on the game.

"They're a team that just kept fighting", Tyma said. "We had to motivate ourselves to keep moving. I think that penalty kick made them(Eastview) back up a little. Their objective was to get rid of the ball, so when we can play the way that we can play, it's an amazing thing".

Sure enough, the Panthers locked down Eastview's attack throughout the second half, and recorded a clean sheet, defeating the Lightning 1-0, and moving up to 3rd place in the South Suburban Conference Rankings. The Panthers look to extend their record to 5-2-2 as they take on the Shakopee Sabers(2-5-1), this Thursday in Shakopee. Follow my Twitter account @DanMcGill42 for nonstop Panthers coverage.
