Alexis Tousignant scores both goals as the Panthers etch their first win of the season!

Lakeville North Girls Soccer took on Farmington at 7:30 Tuesday evening on the Tiger’s Turf. Even with the game falling on the first evening of school both teams seemed excited to get on the field in front of a sizeable crowd.

A ceremony to honor Alyssa Ettl took place before the game which included a moment of silence and two light blue balloons being released in her honor. In addition both teams wore blue headbands and it was overall an honorable gesture from the Farmington faithful.

The first half of the game was mainly a cagey mid field affair with both teams getting in behind but unable to find that killer finish. As coach Jeremiah Johnson told me postgame “I think we had somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 shots, it’s just something we need to do, based on the style we set up our goal is to score at least 3 goals. If we score 3 goals a game I don’t think there is anybody that could hang with us.”

The second half was a different affair as Alexis Tousignant opened the scoring for the Panthers just 3 minutes in after picking up the ball near midfield and continuing the run all the way into the penalty area and finding that killer instinct that North had been lacking putting the Panthers up 1-0.

Farmington stayed poised despite the North goal and looked to be a threat to find the equalizer. It was not to be however as Tousignant again found the back of the net after stunning multiple Tiger defenders with the double crossover. It was really Alexis’s second goal that broke the Tiger’s down and the Panthers never looked back from there.

Tousignant attributes her second goal to the confidence she gained from the first saying “(The first goal gave me) A lot of confidence, everyone got pumped up and we were excited to keep going and got our confidence up, it demoralized Farmington.”
