MISSION AND GOAL OF PANTHER GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

MISSION
LAKEVILLE NORTH GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

exists to provide an athletic experience for female student-athletes to become competitive distance runners through the  development of  their  physical, mental and emotional  skillsets and character. Through their participation, they will create a foundation for life-long fitness and  positive character traits to meet challenges both inside and outside the athletic realm.

GOAL:

Panther Girls Cross Country trains and competes to win together as a team. We measure winning by both individual success and team achievement. We train hard and train smart; we prepare daily so that we are  physically, mentally and emotionally ready from start to finish of every practice and race.  Our success is unwavering confidence, team unity and the pursuit of continuous improvement.

METHODS TO ACHIEVING OUR GOALS:

  • Dedicated Work  The difference between desires and success is dedicated work.
  • No excuses.  We make choices and stay true to what needs to be done.  We either have excuses or results, we always choose the latter.
  • Commitment to Team. We are "all for one and one for all"  and ALL is what makes us ONE.
  • Bring out our best every day. Regardless of day to day ups and downs, we will bring our best and no less.

Expectations of the Cross Country Runners

  • Be punctual to practices, meets and team meetings.
  • Be considerate of your coaches, teammates, and other peers.

  • Support your teammates.
  • Show good sportsmanship.

What to Expect from the Coaches

  • To develop a Cross Country program where every student-athlete can succeed.
  • To provide the best possible environment for learning and growing.
  •  To support what is best for each athlete in their academic success, in and out of the classroom.
  • To have fun.
  • To treat everyone with respect.
  • To treat everyone fairly.
  • To ensure the health and safety of everyone.
  • To let each athlete know where they stand and know their role on the team.
  • To provide the best teaching possible.
  • To make decisions based on what best for the team first and the individual second.

Four Essential Elements of Success

  • Stay Healthy – You can’t run if you’re not healthy. To be successful you must take care of your body- sleep, eat right and communicate anything out of the ordinary  with a coach, trainer, parent or medical professional a.s.a.p.
  • Be Consistent – Improvement comes from consistent training throughout the season and the off-season. Just do it!
  • Maintain Progress – The difficulty and  amount of training can increase with each season of your experience. You will always be either getting better or getting worse. No one stays the same.
  • Be Patient – Stick with it through the ups and downs. No amount of improvement is too small!  Progress is made over the course of a season and years, not days and weeks. Celebrate the little things because all big things are made of many small things!
